Origin and world of the character
The character of Donquixote Doflamingo (nicknamed "Joker" in underworld circles) is one of the most charismatic, cruel and complex antagonists in the hit manga and animated series One Piece, created by mangaka Eiichiro Oda. A former leading member of the Great Seven Corsairs (Shichibukai) and deposed king of the kingdom of Dressrosa, he also enjoys the unique status of former World Noble (Celestial Dragon), which gives him a deep contempt for humanity and immense political influence. Doflamingo is the undisputed master of the Son Fruit (Ito Ito no Mi), a Paramecia-type Demon Fruit that grants him the power to generate and manipulate invisible threads of terrifying strength and sharpness. Capable of taking control of his opponents' bodies like a puppeteer, or cutting up entire buildings, his flamboyantly eccentric looks conceal an absolute darkness.
